The Indian Head Massage has been practiced in India for over a thousand years, it is part of family life and is given to both the young and the old throughout their lives. It has only recently become popular in the West.

When I perform this massage I concentrate on the scalp, face, neck, upper back, shoulders and upper arms and you would remain seated in an upright position throughout. I normally use an Indian Head Massage Chair which fully supports your body whilst I perform this massage.

Most of us feel tightness in our shoulders and neck when we are tense and/or stressed and this is why this massage is particularly beneficial as it works on the fibrous knots and tenseness in the muscles making it all melt away until you feel relaxed and calm again.

With the Indian Head Massage I particularly concentrate on the head because it is believed that the head signifies more than any other part of the body who we are, it controls the nervous system and the skull itself protects our identity and intelligence. The Crown Chakra as it is called, is the one used to communicate with our higher self so it is very important to us. If I can make your head feel good then you should feel good as a whole.

In the west we regularly struggle with the stress of everyday life, we eat poorly and exercise rarely, all of these factors affect the stress placed on our head and shoulders and therefore the Indian Head Massage is an effective way of dealing with this.

I have found that this treatment is very popular at the Mind Body & Spirit Fairs we attend at the weekend, people seem to love it and they have told me that they find it to be both invigorating and relaxing.

The Indian Head Massage will also help to release toxins and stimulate the major organs in your body. It will also make them work more efficiently.
